Monitor Keyboard Mouse Not Working
Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Today, my monitor, keyboard, and mouse stopped working. They are connected to my desktop. They desktop turns on; the fans and lights do turn on too. It also beeps when it starts. So I didn’t know what the problem was.

This is what I did:

  1. Took the Memory Cards (RAM) out and turned on the computer. It beeped so the problem was not the motherboard
  2. Put one memory card in to test. Turned the computer on and it worked.
  3. Put the second one in, the computer didn’t work.
  4. Replaced the second Memory card and we are good to go.

Do NOT Join To CityFit Lafayette Indiana
Friday, July 17th, 2009

CityFit is a gym in Lafayette, Indiana that I go to.  I joined there in Jan 09. When I joined there, they used to have some of the best trainers in the area.

However, from what I heard, the trainers got in financial disagreements with the owner(s) of CityFit (they weren’t getting paid enough) and many of them left to another club in the area. I was not happy about that.

Their hours are crazy bad. They close at nights at 10pm and are open for a shorter time on Saturday and only half of the day on Sunday. I knew this when I signed up, but I made a mistake. I received an email from them couple days ago that they are going to be 24 hours from next month. We’ll have to wait and see.

The biggest let down was this week though. I checked my bank account online and found out that this month I got charged twice the amount that I should. I called the club 4 times every day for the past 3 days. Every time I was told that I need to talk to “Adam” and that he was not there. One day they told me he was on lunch break both at noon and 3 pm when I called. Every time they took my name and number to call me but no one ever did.

I finally found the phone number for the institute that handles their financial transactions (ABC Financial at 888-622-6290). When I called them they told me how this was an “Enhancement” fee that they have every year. I was surprised as I never knew about such a fee and no one ever told me when I was signing up. However apparently there is a fine print somewhere in the agreement that I signed that talks about the “enhancement fee”.

I would have been perfectly O.K with the charge if they had told me up front about or if at least they hadn’t been giving me the run around for the past 3 days. This is just bad customer service. CityFit could have had me blog about the good things about their club rather than the negatives. If this post affects only one potential customer CityFit has lost 11 times what they tried to get out of me by being sneaky about it.

Oh well, some people were just not meant to be business managers.

My advice… Join another club.

I made this post because I was looking for it for a good 15 minutes today before I gave up and searched online for instructions.

iPod iPhone Workout Application iFitness
Monday, July 6th, 2009

ifitness-1I don’t have an iPhone but I do have an iPod touch that I mostly use when I’m running or at the gym. Today I upgraded its software to the new 3.0 version and decided to downloaded some applications.

The first application I downloaded was the iFitness app. It’s a workout app that:

  • Has a large database of various exercises with pictures and instructions
  • You can add your own exercises if they are not listed
  • You can set put in your own workout schedule and track the results
  • You can view the results in graphs and determine where you improved as expected and where you didn’t.
  • It has other features like timer and weight tracking too.

I really liked the application. I workout 4 days a week so I created 4 customized exercise programs called Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I put every day’s workout routine in there.

I used it today and started tracking results (# of reps, etc.). Also since I change the exercises that I do every couple weeks it is hard to remember every different exercise every day. This app helps me with that too.

Right now the iFitness app is only $1.99 so I would definitely suggest getting it if you have an iPhone or iPod touch and workout. You can buy it from the Apple’s application store.
