Blog, Websites, & Twitter updates
Sunday, March 7th, 2010

A quick update on the websites:

Nima Heydarian Blog

I will be posting at least one post a week. I started this trend a month ago and plan on continuing it. I actually won’t have time to write more than one post.

Automation Field Engineer

My goal for Automation Field Energy website was to hit 500 visitors for month of February. Considering that the website was created in February, maybe that was too ambitious. Right now we are at over 250 visitors for last 30 days plus 4 feed subscribers.

My new goal for March will be 500 visitors and 10 feed subscribers. I will be posting at least two updates a week. The website ranks well for its main term. I hope by end of the month I can make it rank for “Field Service Engineer” as well.

Twitter

I’ve been tweeting a lot more often for the past two week or so. Right now I am at 204 followers. I’m hoping to make that 300 by end of March.

Audio Books for March

The Unwritten Laws of Business. I will post a review of the Crucial Confrontations soon.

New Projects

Just one this time. I started a website on how to draw bode plot. Hopefully by end of March I will have all the articles completed and the website fully done.

My Monthly Subscriptions (Paid ones)
Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Throughout the past couple years I’ve signed up for quite many subscriptions and lost track of most them. I was trying to find all my paid subscriptions and found them (hopefully I found all of them). I canceled some and kept the rest. Here is a list of the ones I still have:

Personal Subscriptions

  • NetFlix $14 / month
  • Few Magazine subscriptions (around $30 / Month total)
  • Audible books $14 / month
  • Gym membership $20 / month (cheap, isn’t it?)

Business (Website tools) subscriptions:

  • HostGator hosting ($30 / month)
  • Authorize.Net account ($35 / month)
  • Aweber ($30 / month)
  • Merchant Account ($30 / month)
  • Online dropshipping tool ($100 / month) (unique to one of my websites)
  • SEOMoz tools ($79 / month)

All these bills add up to closes to $400 / month. Some of them are essential for running the business. In fact the only one that I can cancel is the SEOMoz tools which wouldn’t make the monthly costs much less. I guess these are my overhead costs which will exist whether I make $1000 in a month or $10,000.

These are of course aside from utility and cellphone bills.

Twitter Updates
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I just added a twitter gadget to my iGoogle (homepage) which has made me much more twitter active.

I will twit about Iran issues, websites issues, and now working as an engineer issues.

My twitter followers count is pretty low at 179 followers right now. I’ll shoot for a (hopefully easy) 250 followers by end of February.

How to Cancel ESPN Online Subscription
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I signed up for ESPN online magazine subscription for about $5.00 a month. I looked all over my account information and on ESPN website. I couldn’t find any link anywhere which was frustrating.

They make it very easy to sign up but very hard to cancel. This is not an un-common practice among businesses. I just didn’t think a business such as ESPN would get involved in such practices.

If you want to cancel your subscription you will have to call the phone number below:

1 – 888 – 549 – 3776

Beware that they will try to sell you discounted yearly subscription instead.

Iran Military Getting Full Control of Iran’s Economy
Monday, February 15th, 2010

Iran’s military influence and control over Iran’s economy is growing fast. By some reports they control more than 70% of the import and exports of Iran.

Its funny how the government decides to so called “privatize” government owned businesses so they put them on sale on Iran’s stock market and a day after military owned companies buy all of its available stocks.

This is bad and good. Its bad because Iran is moving towards complete (as if it wasn’t already) military dictatorship and will make the country hell for people. On another hand it is a sign that this government is at its last stand against people and about to become history.
