I wrote a post about the things I didn’t like about CityFit club couple weeks ago. I think it is only fair that I mention the two following good points:

- They made the club 24 hours now. you have to pay for a special key but that is understandable.

- They seemed to have hired new trainers. I will definitely try to work with one of them once I go back in a week or two.

Hey, I’ve actually been looking to join City Fit. It’s 24hrs and with my schedule I need it to be flexibile, plus it’s very close to where I live. I can’t get anyone on the phone though. How much is it per month?

The charge you were talking about has happened to alot of people there- my advice would be to pay up for your membership and change your credit card number. they will contine to charge you. They rip you off.
I am a member there too and they did the same thing to me. Now they always ask for a credit card number and I will never give it to them bc I am payed up so they don’t need it.
    I will not be renewing

Club Cityfit of Lafayette Indiana had a satellite location in Westfield Indiana. On 10/01/09 we notice a sign on the door advising they had closed as of 9/28/09 and that we would need to go to Anytime Fitness in Noblesville Indiana to cancel our membership.

I was concerned about this Noblesville location as there is an Anytime Fitness location located across the street from Club Cityfit in Westfield Indiana. Why would they send us to Noblesville when there is one across the street???

I went to Noblesville’s Anytime Fitness and found that all the cancelation forms that others had filed out were just lying in a box and was told they had no idea what was going to be done with them? They also advised that I should contact ABC Financial (888-827-9262) to stop the monthly charge to my credit card if I did not want the charge to continue.

On October 1st, I contacted ABC Financial (888-872-9262) to cancel the automated withdraw from my credit card and to cancel my membership. They did cancel my membership however they had already processed the monthly charge of $35.00. Good rate by the way for a couple, however, they would not credit it back as their policy is no refunds.

I have heard that others are being taken advantage of / charged for a membership on a location that is closed. At no time did Club Cityfit contact us to inform us of the situation / closing.

Club Cityfit is charging for a service that they no longer provide. No advance notice was given. Westfield location closed on 9/28/09. All billings should have stopped the same day you would think. Wrong. They continue to take your money. They had to know this was coming. Why did they not consider their customers and keep them informed. I guess it is because they wanted to steal our money.

My advice is to watch them in Lafayette. One day soon, you may find they have also walked away and continue to charge you for a service they no longer provide.

Check this out, this is one of the ‘owners’ of Club City Fit in Westfield. Brian Hanrahan….http://atgindsha01.atg.in.gov/cpd/docs/enforcement/SteveCarter-401633-1.pdf
    Done it before.

I would file a complaint with the consumer protection agency- if enough people ban together he can be brought down again.

TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW- I’m pretty sure memberships will be billed month after month until you cancel your credit card or the Attorney General gets a hold of him once again.

The $29 ‘enhancement fee’ was NOT in the original contract, I kept mine. It was in some new contract they created. They are not just ‘bad businessmen’ they are malicious in their intent.

  5. Speters Says:

I got charged for this month’s membership so I called ABC Financial to cancel. I’m not sure if I still need to call Anytime Fitness in Noblesville and cancel my membership with them as well but I think it might not hurt to do so. ClubCityFit has no right to transfer anyone’s membership without his/her permission. They should have asked each member if they want to continue their membership with another club or cancel it for good. This is totally a rip off. I don’t think I’ll ever gonna get my money back for this month’s charge. This sucks big time and I will file a complaint against the CCFIt Owners.

Once i found out the gym closed in Westfield, I cancelled my membership through ABC financial (On 9/30/09). Today, a membership charge came out of my bank account for the gym — only ABC financial is no longer the company that payments are being processed through. They have changed to ASF. None the less, when I called to inquire as to WHY my card was charged, ASF stated there were no comments made from ABC that my account was cancelled. When I explained to them that the gym in Westfield had closed, they stated they were unaware of that and could not credit my account until they verified the gym had closed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? Who are you going to call to verify??? NO ONE answers their phones. So frustrating! Those who had a membership in Westfield… make sure you check your bank accounts this month!

  7. Lou Says:

    Email b r i a n 1 0 0 0 9@yahoo.com or s h a d l e y@clubcityfit.com to resolve your Westfield Club City Fit billing issues. They responded immediately to my concern and said I’d have a refund in 7-10 days.

  8. Westfield City Fit Says:

We need to ban together as they ripped us off too. I hope this Brian guy goes to jail.

  9. Fran Says:

I believe it is a guy named Brian Hanrahan. I’ve had many conversations with Brandon (now at Anytime) and don’t believe that he has any clue as to what is going on. From what I have found out ASF International does the billing for a company called http://www.fitnesslifestylecoaching.com. I did some research and found out it is owned by Brian Hanrahan. I think he is billing old City Fit members for his other business.
It looks as though he’s done this before
    http://atgindsha01.atg.in.gov/cpd/docs/enforcement/SteveCarter-367681-1.pdf
    How can we stop him?
If someone is willing to post their email we can get a group together to stop them?

  10. D B Says:

A lot of folks probably have not checked their bank accounts from last week but they soon will find charges. I also contacted ASF and they have closed out the account and said that they will refund the charges in 7-10 days. They informed my husband and I that soc sec # was provided to them and that they believe that Shadley is the “owner of Club City Fit”?! They also have his cell phone number listed as the gym’s main phone number. I would watch your bureau and recommend closing out your checking account. The draft on my account was set up to continue coming out until January of next year. It was recommended to me by my bank (which has been contacted by other clients of Club City Fit) to contact the Westfield police. There is a current case number open with them. Another suggestion if this involves you is to file a complaint with the attorney general. There was a former judgement against one of these individuals in 2007 and I would imagine a 2nd issue won’t sit well with the state. If anyone needs to contact me, you could through this email address: debber14@yahoo.com

  11. Runner Says:

I also got ripped off by this guy. I had a monthly charge of $50 on my credit card taken on 9/30, days after the club closed. As has been said, no written or verbal notice was given that they were closing this club. Only after being contacted by another member of the closing was I able to get there before they closed and fill out the membership termination paper. Now I read here where they were never turned in. I contacted ABC Financial and they will not refund any money, but did say they would terminate my membership. Now I read here where they are using ASF for their billing, which probably means that we will be getting billed by this new company that he owns.
By the way, I contacted Rafeal Sanchez at Call 6 For Help. He called back within two hours and told me that this guy had been doing this before. The more people that call about this, the more heat that should be put on to get our refunds and this guy in the slammer!

  12. C Says:

I’m from Illinois and Shad (could this be Shadley mentioned before) came out here and scamed a bunch of us women in regards to fitnesslifestylecoaching.com. in conjunction with Snap fitness. They respond to absolutely no e-mails or any form of contact. I had to go through my debit card just to get the number for ASF, the billing company to get some form of contact with these people. Still dealling with it.

  13. Fran Says:

Everyone should contact Rafael Sanchez, rafael_sanchez@wrtv6.com. AND the Attorney General’s office and the Westfield, IN police. This is ridiculous!

  14. Fran Says:

    the above should be rafael_sanchez@wrtv.com

  15. Anonymous Says:

If you are from Illinois you need to contact the police dept. in the town which you live. File a police report for identity theft and then call the il. attorney general’s office and they will tell you where to go from there. I am also from IL. and was duped by the same bozos as a result of fitnesslifestylecoaching.com

  16. DB Says:

    Fran,
Thank you for posting the info from Channel 6. Hopefully this will all get resolved soon. I’m still leary of them having our soc #’s. I’m wondering if the police will follow up on this. I called to follow up myself and it doesn’t appear as so.

  17. Sanne Says:

I joined Lifestyle Fitness Coaching at Snap Fitness in Brownsburg. I had a 24 week contract yet at week 28 they still billed me and won’t stop. I called ASF and they are of NO help. I cancelled my credit card and my bank credited my money back to me and is disputing the charge. This is a total mess. When I first called ASF they told me I had a 12 month contract…for a 24 week program??? I asked if they had a copy of the contract and they said they would contact the company and get one…almost a month later and nothing yet. I told them today that they won’t ever see that contract but they really don’t care. I did contact the Westfield PD today and the Attorney General’s office. These people need to be stopped.

  18. Anonymous Says:

Sanne what did the police say?

  19. Anonymous Says:

Since the Westfield Police are being less than helpful, call the Mayor Andy Cook at (317) 804-3001. The police will not ignore residents after you complain to the Mayor, trust me.

  20. Fran Says:

    also from another post http://www.theindychannel.com/news/21468644/detail.html

Same here – I received an email from Hanrahan where he also copied some guy he knows at ABC Financial, which is the company that processed the monthly payments. They deducted the Oct. fee after the gym closed. I called them first when my card was charged, and they told me that they could cancel my membership, but not refund any money. Supposedly it was against their “policy”. The email told him to credit me my amount and cancel my membership. I emailed this guy from ABC Financial alone and told him that I tried to do just that over the phone, but the customer service rep and his supervisor did cancel the membership, but refused to give me a refund. He emailed me back and told me that he was sorry for the inconvience and that my money was being refunded. We shall see! I had also called the original City Fit in Lafayette. The one in Westfield was opened later, early 2008, as a satelite club of this one. The guy I spoke to said that new ownership had taken over from the original and that they kept the City Fit name. I thought this was odd.
I doubt if we receive refunds, as if you follow the posted links in another post here, this guy was found guilty of this same thing just three years ago

  21. DB Says:

I’ve contacted the police three times after filing a complaint a month ago. I’ve had no return phone calls and I was told originally that it may take several weeks for the case to be given to anyone. Gotta love where the tax dollars go!

  22. i have seen this guy before Says:

He has been doing this for years….he used to have a sidekick named Marsha who is in it with him too.

  23. C Says:

Sanne, Sorry about this happening to you. Now I know that I’m not the only one who did not receive a contract.

I have a feeling that many more individuals that signed up with Fitness Lifestyle coaching will now start to have problems. The “24 week program” from the Snap fitness that I signed up with will reach the 24 weeks next week. ASF did get my contract after I demanded one because I did not remember signing one. The contract states that if you did not journal 3 times a week for the 24 week trial period then the membership remains in effect for the “entire written term”. The dates are filled in on the contract, mine was for a year and my signature was on it.

I believe that Shad side tracked me with the Snap fitness contract so that I would forget about the Fitness Lifestyle Coaching contract then he filled in the dates after the fact, which is the reason I did not receive the contract. Nothing was ever mentioned about a 12 month contract. Even the Snap fitness contract that is usually 12 months was not filled in as such by Shad like he was suppose to. By Shad failing to fill in the 12 month part of that contract, he was able to continue with his “24 week” sales pitch without me catching on.

Anyway, if you read the original post on this website, you will see many more comments and ideas of what you can do to get your money back. I e-mailed info@clubcityfit.com and asked for my money back after numerous attempts to contact them previously. I told them that I was contacting Rafael Sanchez and would file with the attorney general along with finding as many victims as possible of Fitness Lifestyle Coachings deceptive sales tactics, if I didn’t receive my money back and a cancellation of my contract. I received a reply from him (Brian) that I would get my money back and a cancelled contract. This was less than a week ago so we will see what happens.

    Hope this helps you.

    FROM THE INDYMOM’s WEBSITE!

UPDATE 12/28/09 – I received a call today from a Detective McPhearson of the IMPD. He would like those of you that had memberships to Club City Fit in Westfield or Lafayette to give him a call ASAP @ 317-327-2543 317-327-2543

BTW, I never received my “refund”. Shock!

  25. JH Says:

I joined Anytime Fitness in Lebanon, June 2009. At the same time a guy named Shad was at the club offering a 6 mo. program at $20 per month for Fitness Lifestyle Coaching. I signed up and wished I hadn’t. I didn’t even use their serivce but continued to allow them to debit my account each month for $20 because I signed a 6 month contract. So the last payment was made in November or so I thought. December came and went and no debit. Then yesterday while doing online banking I noticed a $20 fee had been debited to my account by ASF International on that very same day. 1/4/2010. After reading all these posts I see that I am not alone but I agree this guy needs to be stopped.

  26. anonymous Says:

anyone still being charged for either http://www.fitnesslifestylecoaching.com (Fitness Lifestyle Coaching) after their contract ended OR for membership at Club City Fit should contact both Detective McPhearson (317-327-2543) and Rafael Sanchez. (rafael_sanchez@wrtv.com) and mention Brian Hanrahan in your subject line. This guy is a crook.
