As you may have noticed I’m in process of updating and upgrading my blog. I’ve tried to learn as much as possible from other good blogs like John Chow and others. From this point on I will be writing more thought through posts and more useful posts for you. I will also use my blog as an announcement blog for my business (Timsar Solutions).
Following are the ways I am employing to improve my blog. They are fairly easy and I think essential to having a good blog. They are in any particular order, just follow all.
1- Get A Unique Blog Design
You don’t have to get a design that’s from Mars. Just add some uniqueness to your blog that sets you apart from the general crowd using free pre-made templates.
2- Use FeedBurner
Join FeedBurner and use their service to show (to possible advertisers and your readers) how many readers you have. Besides their tools make it easier for your readers to subscribe to your RSS. You can see my RSS Subscription on right hand side (on top).
3- Show Top Commentators
Having comments on your posts mean people are reading your blog, making comments, and participating in discussions with you. Those are loyal visitors that will read most of your posts and possibly give you advice on how to improve your blog. Give them something back by putting your top commentators name (and their link) on your blog. You can use the Top Commentators Plugin.
4- Don’t Use A Million Categories
Don’t be another one of bloggers with 50 categories and one post in each. Keep the number of your categories low and make more posts in each category instead. That way you develop on certain topics and your visitors keep coming back. But if you write about every single thing on planet most visitors will not come back. They don’t want to see a new post on their RSS Feed viewer that is not related to what they like so they will un-subscribe.
