have same problem... has been going on for a while bought new cord didn't make a difference but i assumed it was because it doesn't fit tightly into the back of computer. I noticed the built in yellow piece that holds charger is loose.. i don't have a warranty because i have had this laptop for over 5 yrs... don't know what to do or who to have be fix the problem... sick of dealing with the beeping sounds and my computer dies frequently... the computer itself is old but i still like it however if this continues there is no reason to keep using it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem without sending it out to get fixed?

The one gripe I have about all notebooks is that the power pins are so fragile. I paid to have two repaired before I found a AC cord retention kit to take the strain off the pitiful little poorly designed connector. It's gotta a "funny" name but it sure did solve my problems. It's a jerkstopper.

I'm having the same problem, luckily i am under warranty. I called up lenovo today and they send they were going to send me a box in the mail to ship my laptop out to them so they can fix it. The whole process takes approximately 5-7 days.

> What is the danger of such a problem on the laptop & the battery ? :-s

The ones I wrote and of course if the cable shorts that's always bad: maybe the adapter can catch fire if it isn't built properly.

The cable is easy to fix if you can find the new connector (or strip the old one's plastic) and you know somebody who can solder and he does it so that he takes care that it's done properly: the wires are insulated, not close to each other and the whole thing is tough so it won't break again.
