- Iranian Name: I just found many interesting information about my own name. (using the good old Google):
- Answers.com says Nima is an Arabic name (I know that’s wrong for sure – but again these people don’t know the different between people in Middle East). It also says that Nima means “Blessing”.
- A guy in another forum said (and I quote): “its a very old story, nima and Nakisa were the singers in persepolis, in Persian empire, nima was the one who build the lyre for the first time!!! and Nakisa was the most famous singer in the old Persian empire!”
I have been unable to find any definite answer for what Nima means. I will continue my research and if someone finds out please let me know too.

Nima has different meaning in different languages. The male name nima (nimah , nimat, nimat) means blessing, mainly. Other meanings are not important if your surname has arabic origin. If you hold a family name that is an arabic word, you have to refer to nima as an arabic name. You may refer to different languages to define the meaning of different parts of your full name, but maybe confusing.
Nima was the name of a poet in iran (Nima Youshij) and does not really have any ties to an arabic name, (not trying to be mean, theyre cool) unless its similar to a different name… Ive been told it means very honest too

THe name NIma in Iran is a persian name comes from the word NIM means half of something. In Parsi (which is the correct spelling for persian word farsi, as farsi is arabic because arabs couldnt pronunce the letter P in parsi so theychanged it to Letter F and to be able to pronunce it) by adding the letter A we change the adverb to name, like an example
draz + A = draza
so by adding A to the adverb NIM change the adverb to name

ive never met anyone with the name nima before…. i was named after the tibetan version of the word meaning sunshine…. when all the tibetan children see the sun they run around saying nima nima nima its kinda neat !
